L'uva Bella Winery
It is not often that childhood dreams turn into reality, but thanks to the determination of Marisa Sergi, she was able to take her family’s passion and legacy for winemaking to produce award winning wines.
As a child, Sergi spent hours watching her father, Frank, make wine, learning the necessary skills to become a vintner. She formalized her education by studying winemaking at Cornell University. It was at Cornell when she started her own brand, RedHead Wine.
Sergi and her partner Evan Schumann bought L'uva Bella (“the beautiful grape” in Italian) Winery from her father and plans to develop this business into one of the countries' largest wineries in the next few years.
With a focus on affordability and delicious products, the winery’s Purple Rain brand is now available in more than 5,000 stores in the U.S.
Thanks to a referral from their attorney, Sergi and Schumann were introduced to Jerry Kreig, Senior SBA Business Development Officer. First Commonwealth was able to provide the financing necessary to help fund L’uva Bella’s growth through their SBA financing options.
L’uva Bella has recently announced a million-dollar expansion, including the purchase of new equipment, positioning L’uva Bella for future success.
