NACHA Rules Updates

The following is a summary of changes coming in 2022:

  • March 18, 2022 -Increasing the Same Day ACH Dollar Limit to $1 million per transaction
  • June 30, 2022- Supplementing Data Security requirements to include protecting account numbers used in origination expands to non-financial institution originators originating 2 million or more transactions annually.
  • September 16, 2022-Micro Entries debit and credits must settle on the same day, Originators must use ACCTVERIFY in the company entry description field and the Company name must be easily recognizable. Phase 2 is effective March 17, 2023, Originators must use commercially reasonable fraud detection which monitors forward and return Micro Entry volumes.
  • September 30, 2022-Updates to the Third Party Sender roles and responsibilities which includes addressing nested Third Party Senders and clarifying the requirement that a Third Party Sender conduct a risk assessment.
