First Commonwealth Receives 2020 Designation of Savings Excellence Award

Indiana, PA (July 1)– First Commonwealth Bank is one of only 12 financial institutions to receive the 2020 Designation of Savings Excellence Award from the Consumer Federation of America. This is the second time First Commonwealth has received this award, previously recognized in 2018.

First Commonwealth is one of 12 financial institutions that was chosen from over 200 banks and credit unions across the nation that participated in this year’s America Saves Week, from February 23-29. Collectively, the 12 banks and credit unions that earned the award encouraged nearly 125,000 people to deposit almost $364 million into new and existing savings accounts during America Saves Week 2020. Individually, First Commonwealth had more than 21,000 customers deposit $51.3 million over that same time period, with 387 new accounts being opened.

“The Consumer Federation of America is a leader in all facets of financial education,” remarked Jane Grebenc, President of First Commonwealth Bank. “Our mission is to improve the financial lives of our neighbors and their businesses, so receiving their recognition of our commitment to education is tremendous. Through education, we believe that our consumers will be better stewards of their finances,” Grebenc added.

The 2020 Designation of Savings Excellence Award wraps up an award-winning month of June for First Commonwealth Bank, who was recognized at the beginning of the month by Forbes as one of the World’s Best Banks for 2020.
