Susan L. Nelson


Sue has been with First Commonwealth since 1983. With years of experience in Trust Administration, Investments and Regional Management, Sue is the Senior Vice President, Senior Trust Executive and Trust Manager. She holds a B.S. in Business Management from the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg and was named Alumna of Distinction in 2001, having exhibited leadership and commitment to community.

Sue is a graduate of the Pennsylvania Bankers Association Central Atlantic School of Trust at Bucknell University and the American Bankers Association National Graduate Trust School at Northwestern University. She holds the Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA) professional designation which was awarded in 1991 through the Institute of Certified Bankers.

Sue serves on the First Commonwealth for Women committee and is actively involved with the bank's mentorship program. As a concerned community advocate, Sue serves on the boards of The American Red Cross in Westmoreland County (chair); Mental Health America; PA Women Work in Pittsburgh and chairs the PA Bankers Association Government Relations Trust Advisory Committee. Sue has been active in working with the Muscular Dystrophy Association serving on the group's leadership committee in Pittsburgh and as chair of the major fundraising event in Pittsburgh in 2012. She continues to serve on this committee annually

Sue was recognized with the "Doing the Most Good" award in 2011 from the Salvation Army and she was honored to be the recipient of the 2012 nationally recognized Athena Award for leadership in Westmoreland County. She was honored by the MDA with the Champion of Spirit award in 2016
