Community Commitment

First Commonwealth continues to reach out to local communities in western and central Pennsylvania.

First Commonwealth provides financial support through contributions and sponsorships to local community programs which enhance the quality of life of its citizens. Our local offices make decisions about events and organizations in their neighborhoods as they understand the unique needs in their areas.

We also encourage our employees to participate in making their communities better places to live and work by volunteering their time and talents to those worthwhile community programs.

We also participate in the Education Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program which provides support to those organizations dedicated to the education of our youth. For more information regarding the EITC program please visit here.

Time to Get Smart About Credit

The Get Smart About Credit (GSAC) program, sponsored by the ABA Education Foundation, is a national campaign of volunteer bankers who work with young people to raise awareness about the importance of using credit wisely. This year GSAC is celebrated on October 18, with bankers connecting with youth and adults for credit education lessons throughout the month.

In support of the American Bankers Association’s GSAC initiative, First Commonwealth Bank plans to offer financial education outreach to schools and organizations in communities throughout Western Pennsylvania.

First Commonwealth will participate in the GSAC initiative by having bankers and educators visit area schools and organizations to host classes on credit topics like:

  • Credit cards
  • Credit reports
  • How to establish credit
  • What is credit, and how can you be smart about it
  • Protection from scams and fraud

First Commonwealth will use its custom designed curriculum of classes to engage participants with competitions, games and activities. All financial education workshops are free.

If you’re ready to Get Smart About Credit and would like to schedule a financial education event, please contact Anna Frank at afrank@fcbanking.com. To learn more about the "Get Smart About Credit" initiative visit getsmartaboutcredit.com.
