Community Commitment
First Commonwealth continues to reach out to local communities in western and central Pennsylvania.
First Commonwealth provides financial support through contributions and sponsorships to local community programs which enhance the quality of life of its citizens. Our local offices make decisions about events and organizations in their neighborhoods as they understand the unique needs in their areas.
We also encourage our employees to participate in making their communities better places to live and work by volunteering their time and talents to those worthwhile community programs.
We also participate in the Education Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program which provides support to those organizations dedicated to the education of our youth. For more information regarding the EITC program please visit here.

First Commonwealth Will Award 20 Athletic Scholarships
First Commonwealth is pleased to announce the 5th annual "Time to be First" Athletic Scholarship program for western and central Pennsylvania high school seniors scheduled to graduate in 2013. The First Commonwealth "Time to be First" Athletic Scholarship has been established in conjunction with the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) as a means of recognizing and rewarding the work and efforts of well-rounded students throughout our region. The scholarship program will recognize student athletes demonstrating success in the classroom, the community, and their athletic endeavors.
Altogether, First Commonwealth will award 20 $1,000 scholarships to area student athletes. The contest is open to all area seniors who are participating in any athletic program. The scholarships will be awarded to those student athletes who best describe why it is their time to be first (i.e. first at college, first in community involvement, and first in athletics).
The First Commonwealth "Time to be First" Scholarship Program is an extension of the company’s commitment to supporting community high schools and their students, which includes being the Official Bank of the WPIAL and sponsoring many individual high schools in the region.
A committee of First Commonwealth executives will select the 20 "Time to be First" Scholarship winners. All applications will be judged on creativity, originality, and the overall story, as described by the student in a 500-word essay.
Deadline
The deadline for entries is March 29, 2013. The "Time to be First" Scholarship winners will be notified by May 3, 2013.
